LATITUDE60 LTD decides how personal information is used through Here4Legal. In data-protection law, this makes it the controller. The company is registered in England and Wales, number 14841042, at 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX.
To contact us about personal information, use the website form and choose “Privacy”, or write to us at that address.
Information you send us
When you contact us, we receive your name, email address, chosen topic and message. We also receive any page link or other information you include. If you ask us to correct or remove a listing, we may need evidence of your connection to it.
Please leave out confidential legal documents, health information, identity documents and payment details unless we have explained why something is needed. We use your message to respond and investigate your request.
Information in the directory
We receive professional and business information from the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). This includes solicitor firm and office names, registration numbers, dates, addresses and contact details. Some of this may identify individuals, such as sole practitioners.
We use it to publish and maintain the directory, help people check firms and correct errors. Our legal basis for this is legitimate interests. We weigh the directory’s benefit to the public against the rights and interests of the people listed.
Keeping the website and contact form secure
Our hosting provider may log your IP address, the time of your visit, pages requested, the response and information about your browser.
To limit repeated form submissions, we keep a protected, coded version of your IP address with recent submission times. Your full IP address is not stored in that separate record, although it may appear in hosting logs.
- We use this information to prevent spam, fraud and attacks on the website.
- We also keep records needed to investigate requests, explain important listing decisions or deal with legal claims.
These uses normally rely on legitimate interests. We also use information where necessary to meet legal obligations, including handling formal data-protection requests.
Advertising and referral information
If you agree, we remember which advert or website brought you here and the first page you visited.
If you follow an advert link, our tracking service, Netvision, records an advertising reference code, how you found us, the first page you visited and the page where you clicked the advert. It also records your IP address, browser details, language and the time of the click.
Our advertising network, Optimise, receives a reference for the click so it can match a purchase to a payment due to us from the advertiser. We use this information to measure advertising and prevent misuse. We do not send your enquiries or saved firms with it.
You can refuse advertising cookies and still use the directory or visit Which? Legal directly. Change your choice using Advertising cookie settings at the bottom of the page. If you turn advertising cookies off, we stop using them to link future advert clicks and purchases. Contact us about information already recorded.
We keep advertising-click records for 30 days to check payments from advertisers and help prevent misuse.
Who receives information?
Our hosting and email providers handle the information needed to run the website and deliver messages. We may share details of a correction with the SRA or another information provider when necessary. Where practical, we tell you or remove personal details that are not needed.
We may share information when the law requires us to. We do not sell your enquiries, pass them to firms as sales leads or use them for unrelated marketing.
How long we keep information
We may keep information longer for a dispute, legal requirement or active investigation, or delete it sooner when it is no longer needed.
- Routine enquiries: normally up to 12 months after the enquiry is closed.
- We use records of messages sent during the past hour to limit repeated submissions. Records older than 30 days are deleted each day.
- Hosting security and access logs: kept according to the hosting provider’s retention schedule. You can ask us for the current details.
- Messages about corrections and removals: normally up to six years where needed to explain the decision.
- A minimal record of a removed listing: kept for as long as needed to stop it being published again.
Your data-protection rights
Depending on your situation, you can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information. You can also ask us to limit its use, or object to how we use it. These rights still apply when information comes from a public source. The law allows exceptions to some requests.
Choose “Privacy” on our contact form or write to our registered address. We may ask for enough information to confirm your identity. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
